Abstract
Introduction: To ensure optimum treatment outcome in cases with deficient bone volume, various grafting procedures and bone substitutes may be used. Mineralized Plasmatic Matrix (MPM) is considered as an autologous blood product highly enriched in platelets and fibrin network in a liquid form mixed with a bone substitute. Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of mineralized plasmatic matrix (MPM) with and without collagen membrane as a bone regenerative material in anterior maxillary horizontal alveolar bone defect. Material and methods: 16 implants (Dentis s-clean system) were inserted in anterior maxillary alveolar defect; cases were divided into two equal groups. In (group I) 8 implants were placed and the defect was completely covered by MPM, and in (group II) 8 implants were placed and the defect was completely covered by MPM with collagen membrane. patients were examined clinically for recording peri-implant probing depth and radiographically for evaluation bone density, peri-implant bone loss and buccal bone thickness. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in bone regeneration between the two groups, but there was a statistically significant increase in implant stability, bone density and buccal bone thickness between follow up periods in each group. Conclusion: Our results proved that MPM offers a more compact, durable and stable structure which assists the forming of new bone tissue without the use of a collagen membrane.
